The art of looping

When you are watching kitesurfers in action there are many tricks and techniques you will want to learn right away. Depending on how you can handle yourself with a board and kite to perform these maneuvers you should be experienced and capable of making these loops successfully. This should only be done if you have logged many hours of kitesurfing or have been trained by a certified kitesurfing specialist. Depending on which direction you choose to loop from front or back will be determined by how comfortable you are with the method.

Once your kite is up in the air and you are standing upright on a level plain with a small chop consistent chop, increase the speed of your board by creating a small dive with the kite. Once you hit a steady rapid speed, measure the distance between wave breaks and chops, once you feel the board starting to lift off the water, turn or flip your body into the direction you want to go in and rotate in the air. Remember to keep your hands on the bar. Once you have committed to the full jump you should be facing forward awaiting the next chop ahead.

If you end up bailing out halfway through the jump, you may find yourself ending up hitting the water backwards. Practicing this maneuver is crucial as many things can go wrong during a loop. If you lose your board or tangle up you could be in trouble. Once you find yourself facing forward again on the plain you can continuously hit these loops over and over again. Make sure to keep the release bar firm in hand and the flip is done away from intervention with the lines. Ensure you are keeping the release bar firmly while you keep the kite overhead.
